Scrappy Stagecoach Sweater

While I was at Stitches West 2020, I bought the yarn (and pattern) to knit my first Stagecoach Sweater.  That was my first ever attempt at knitting a stranded colorwork sweater.  I really like this pattern because it flatters my petite big busted body.  I even knit one without the colorwork.  Recently we had a sale at Atelier in celebration of LYSD, which has evolved into a month long celebration at our shop.  It is only time we ever have sale yarn and I bought all of the discontinued Fibre Co. RTLC that we had in stock.  All of the quantities were limited and mixed dye lots so knitting this scrappy sweater was a perpetual game of colorwork yarn chicken.  I embraced the challenge and I am very pleased with the results.

I didn't modify anything.  I followed the pattern exactly, using all of the recommended needle sizes.

Check my floats!  My sweater looks super fly even when it's inside out.  It might be worth mentioning that 32" and 40" circulars work best for this pattern.  I used magic loop on the collar and sleeves.

At this point in my fiber arts journey, it's hard to believe that I was ever intimidated by knitting stranded colorwork because it's now one of my favorite styles of knitting.  I knit the MC Continental and the CC English.

Perhaps I subconsciously knit these colors together to blend in with the front of our building.

I have 2 other WIPs going ATM.  One will be finished soon, possibly by the end the week.  The other one is taking a little while longer.  I started it in conjunction with the #yarnlove #yarnlove2022 #yarnlovechallenge hosted by TL Yarn this month.  Once the challenge is complete, I plan to archive the entire month's posts here.

I steam blocked this sweater instead of wet blocking it because I didn't want the size and shape to change too drastically.

This yarn is made in Peru and it the softest blend of 65% baby alpaca/10% cashmere/10% camel/10% silk.  Pure luxury!

I am utterly exhausted as I write this because I stayed up late last night weaving in all of my loose ends.

When Xena attends preschool 3x/week, I wake up between 5 and 6 AM to shower and pack her lunch before everyone else wakes up.  As soon as I finish this post, I am going back to bed!
